| Replacement Windows |
| Below is a brief description of the types of windows
that Essex Double Glazing's network of companies offer
to the public. |
Tilt & Turn
Windows - The Modern Window
Tilt-Turn windows are designed to tilt inwards from
the top and open partially for ventilation as well as
opening fully from the side like a door. Tilt-Turn windows
are ideal for easy cleaning or for use as a means of
escape. As with all windows it is possible to choose
from a variety of glazing and frame types. Glazing options
typically include; single glazed, double glazed, leaded
or decorative effect. Frames can be either softwood,
hardwood or low maintenance UPVC in either white or
woodgrain finish. Casement
Windows
Believe it or not, traditional casement windows with
opening lights, or sashes, can be made in the small
workshop with just the basic hand-held power tools and
some basic joints. Add some transoms, mullions and glazing
bars and you can make frames of any size with any combination
of lights. Material dimensions and design features,
such as mouldings, vary to match adjacent windows. On
larger frames, member sizes may be beefed up a bit.
Larger sashes often have a wider bottom rail, usually
70mm, for greater stability. |
